Holidaily Brewing Company Vienna Lager

Gluten Free Adventure Series

This is my first time reviewing a lager from Holidaily Brewing Company, and it also happens to be the first release in Holidaily’s all new Adventure Series. Holidaily is located in Golden, Colorado and they are Colorado’s first dedicated gluten free brewery.

The Adventure Series is year-round series that features rotating styles of small-batch experimental beers. They have launches planned for March, May, and August. The Vienna Lager is their March release.

This gluten free Vienna Lager features Noble hops and is brewed on malted vienna millet and buckwheat grains. It has a 4.8% ABV and is packaged in 4-packs of 12 ounce cans. You can also find it on draft at the taproom until it’s gone!

Take a look at the video below to see how this gluten free Vienna Lager pours. At the end of the review, you’ll find links to other Holidaily Brewing reviews, including a recent experimental–the (gluten free) Oreo Cookie Stout!

The Taste Test

Adventure Series Vienna Lager

The Adventure Series Vienna Lager pours with a vibrant gold color and a whole lot of carbonation, giving it a very crisp appearance. The clarity is off the charts. This lager is as clear as it gets. You could study for the bar exam through this beer. The Vienna Lager is one of those beers that holds a consistent color in multiple lights.

The head lingers for a long time and a frosted surface remains afterwards. Holidaily’s Vienna Lager has a wonderful aroma filled with rich vienna malts. The scent is exactly what you might hope for (or expect) from a Vienna Lager.

My first taste reveals a bright and crisp beer with generous millet malt character and a light dose of hops. The body is light and refreshing and the carbonation is perfect. Even several sips in, this gluten free lager still maintains its frosty appearance.

When the Vienna Lager hits your palate, you first notice the carbonation, quickly followed by the malt flavors. The light and crisp body is enjoyed throughout and the finish is dry and clean. This lager drinks easy and tastes lovely. The flavors are smooth, but pronounced.

If I’m being honest here, I have yet to have a beer from Holiday Brewing Company that revealed itself as gluten free in any way, shape, or form. Holidaily doesn’t make decent beer. They make excellent beer. They are one of those breweries that I would recommend to anyone—not just the gluten free.

Holidaily Brewing Adventure Series Vienna Lager

As you might imagine, this Vienna Lager tastes light and drinks light too. Its 4.8% ABV makes this a safe choice for any occasion, but I would recommend having a second on hand, because 12 ounces just isn’t going to be enough once you start sipping.

I would recommend this Vienna Lager to anyone who is seeking a replacement for their go-to lager. I have no complaints about this one. I can’t wait to see what’s released next in Holidaily’s Adventure Series!
