G’s Hard Ginger Beer – Zin-Babe

Gluten Free Ginger Beer with Napa Valley Zinfandel Grapes

This marks my fourth review of G’s Hard Ginger Beer. This time I’m reviewing their Zin-Babe ginger beer flavor. This flavor is brewed with fresh pressed organic ginger juice and Napa Valley Zinfandel grapes. So I’m guessing this brew is the love child of a ginger beer and a glass of Zin.

G's Hard GInger Beer Zin-Babe

G’s Hard Ginger Beers are brewed in Napa Valley, so it was only a matter of time before this type of experimentation took place under their roof! As are all of G’s ginger beers, the Zin-Babe is organic, vegan, gluten free, and has no added sweeteners. This entire 16 ounce can contains only 155 calories.

To see what this ginger beer poured like, feast your eyes on the video below. To read whether I liked it or not, continue on to the review! Be sure to browse the other G’s ginger beer links at the end because this is one of many flavors offered by G’s.

The Taste Test

Zin-Babe Ginger Beer

The G’s Ginger Beer Zin-Babe pours with a rosy pink color and a large head that bubbles down quickly. It looks like a sparkling rosé in the glass with very high clarity and moderate-looking carbonation.

Zin-Babe’s aroma is faintly sweet and very fruity. I’m getting a lot of bright watermelon notes on the nose. My first taste reveals that there is a lot going on in this flavor profile. It tastes like a Zinfandel mixed with ginger Kombucha!

When this gluten free ginger beer first hits your palate you notice its fizzy texture first, then a rather muted fruitiness that turns more gingery as the tasting continues. It finishes dry with a little bit of ginger bite. Overall though, I would say this is the least dry ginger beer I’ve tasted form G’s yet—but it’s still very much on the dry side.

My takeaway from the tasting is that ginger is kind of strange in wine. LOL It’s pretty easy drinking due to the dryness and don’t get me wrong—the ginger qualities are quite gentle and exist more in heat than flavor. That said, I still find it a bit of a weird combo for my palate.

I think it’s important to put into perspective, I would probably still opt for this flavor over most other gluten free ginger beer brands, simply because of how authentically dry it is (which is definitely my jam).

I feel that the trend of sweet ciders and ginger beers is over. People like to taste their beer’s flavors, not just its sugars. G’s Hard Ginger does a wonderful job at creating a fleet of dry ginger beers, so that you can enjoy any flavor without sacrificing the dryness. So far, I haven’t tasted a single one that I could classify as “sweet”.

This may not have been my favorite flavor of theirs, but there are many more to explore including the Summer Vibes (brewed with passionfruit, orange, and sea salt), the Stormy (brewed with lemon, lime, orange, and molasses), and the classic Original (brewed with lemon and orange).

By the way, I still have one more review coming for G’s Gold Rush which is ginger beer brewed with cinnamon, vanilla, and Heather flowers! Stay tuned for that one…
